Go to the main MJ webpage (http://www.magicjack.com/)
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the 'FAQ's / Knowledgebase' link.
Enter 'power adapter' in the search field and click 'Search'.
The first entry
in the list of results I got was "Can I order a replacement power adapter?"
Find this entry and click on it. The answer to the question is:
"Yes. To order a replacement power adapter, please click here.
Note: Limit one replacement power adapter per customer"
The link takes you to the MyMagicJack login page. When you login, you are taken to an ordering page for the 'magicJack PLUS Power Adaptor'.
If that is the case, you will need to contact magicJack support (1-561-594-9925) and ask for a replacement of your power adapter.
Price shows as "$0.00" and they repeat the "Limit one per customer" line.
I clicked on the order button to see if the price changes and it stayed at $0:00. I didn't take the order any further as I don't need a power adapter, so I can't vouch for what happens next, but it looks like you can get one replacement power adapter for free.
UPDATE:;
Fix: Purchased generic ipod/iphone usb wall charger for $3 from ebay (or buy from any reputable store).
Never found the FAQ, but I did a live chat and told them my old one wasn't working, and they shipped me a new one for free. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIts not free and there is a shipping charge the cost of ac adapter. We need class action on this because there is many other people having issues with magic jack plus ac adapters.
ReplyDeleteI had to pay $10US, which came to about $14 Canadian on my credit card to have it shipped and the second one only worked for about 5mths. This is the biggest scam around. you're right there should be a class action law suit about this.
DeleteThe majic jack power supplies are junk. I'm on my 4th one now. This time I went with an HTC power supply for less than $5 from amazon with shipping free. No problems since I replaced it. I was tired of OEM replacements burning out after 6 months. It's been over a year now and no problems.
ReplyDeleteJust make sure it's rated at 5 volts and 1 amp, and you'll be happier than the crappy OEM chargers.
Yeah, the stock adapters are crap. Better to buy a good one and save the shipping fee.
ReplyDeleteCan you please give the model name for the HTC power supply on amazon.com please? because there are quite a few there. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteebay adapter caused my internet to drop. said it was for magic jack plus. guess it is pot luck with these things.
ReplyDeleteI too had the issue with power adapter. Any 5 volts and 1 Amp USB adapter will work just fine.
ReplyDeleteHow about 5 volts 2 amp??? Will it work??
ReplyDeleteSome adapters will cause you to have noise and static in your call.
ReplyDeleteSome eBay sellers guarantee theirs not to have this problem. About 4 bucks...
I have tried every kind of adapter and all have static and noise. (I mean everyone!)
ReplyDeleteI just ordered a new MJ one.
The option to buy a new one is on your account page...
